LOL or Laugh Out Loud is part of a set of a Limited Edition Art Prints by Nellie Maan from her new art range.
LOL begs the question do we ever Laugh Out Loud? Do we ever pay enough attention to a text message to actually Laugh Out Loud before replying with the famous three letter acronym LOL? Is there an expectation to add such idle words so that the recipient is led to believe that what they wrote was truly funny? The art piece was created after observing people’s behaviours on their phones over a number of years. And never witnessing people laughing out loud. Maybe it is still not very British to express such a level of emotion in public?
The art piece depicts the overused LOL being blasted out from an old gramophone. The piece was inspired by the well-known art piece His Master’s Voice. The well known image used for the dog and gramophone logo. The cat is a harlequin. Akin to a masked mute character, in a pantomime production, dressed in a pattern of diamond shapes.
The precise working methods are a closely guarded secret that have been developed over a number of years. The textures that Nellie produces are rich and varied. There is a fine balance of texture to white space with the use of strong black lines. The limited colour palette defines the unique style and gives it the clean fresh look.
This contemporary art style has been applied to the world of the fast evolving language of text jargo acronyms as it is a language that says little but speaks volumes.
This clean, fresh and appealing fine art print will suit all styles of decor. There are only 25 signed prints of each image making the art pieces very collectable.
