FoMO or Fear of Missing Out, belongs to a set of Limited Edition Art Prints by artist Nellie Maan from her new art range. There are only 25 signed prints of each image making the art pieces highly collectable.
Fear of Missing Out entices the viewer to partake. So important is this funky new acronym that it was added to the Oxford English dictionary in 2013. The word is used by well-known and lesser known celebrities as well as your every day person. Social media is driven by the need to demonstrate that one is not missing out. Forget keeping up with the Jones that is so passé – FoMO is the new measure of social status. The need to create the piece was as seductive as FoMO itself – the new social dis-ease and mental health syndrome.
Here the artist plays with the idea of a tantalising drink perhaps resting on the end of a diving board. No fear of heights will deter a person from wanting that drink and doing everything to get it. Yet, like the ice cubes themselves social media is little more than a temporary creation that will melt away and disappear. Can FoMO satisfy insatiable thirsts? Could FoMO be a warning to those who have yet to catch this dis-ease or suffer from the associated mental health syndrome?
This modern art style has been applied the new world language of text speak. A language that is open to many interpretations. This clean, fresh and appealing fine art print is ideal for all styles of décor.
